Bakes’ Takes Podcast Show Notes Saturday
March 13, 2021
:23 1) Vaccines, check.
2) Stimulus, check.
3) Stocks up? No check yet.
:33 Why I do this—Bobby, Jack, please listen in.
‘87 crash, journey, technical analysis first, fundamentals second, not right or wrong, just works for me. read WSJ, Barron’s Economist, listen to podcasts, devour relevant newsletters, monitor what Google alerts bring. Point you to them, but if you don’t want to do that, please know that I’ll do it for you and I eat home cooking, I have no conflicts.
1:49 Not investment advice. Please conduct, and share, your own due diligence.
Bakes’ Take—Fan Mail! Calls! Questions! Mike!
2:18 Mike!—Why play short term game? Should I pay attention daily? If I focus on 10-year outlook I would make more money. RCL example
Royal Caribbean/RCL--$111 down to $86, down 22% in one year, plan ahead
All of these beat RCL. If you own losers you can’t invest in winners.
4:33 Bakes’ Take—Very few true long-term investors imo. Long term in retirement plan, add our ideas on top.
6:10 Jack—Stimulus bill effect on equity markets? % of $1400 to stocks and retail.
6:49 XRT/Spider S&P Retail ETF—4% or so GME, yes, I’m touching the stove. 3/25 earnings call. How do they become digital gaming company. Chewy II.
8:10 XRT—weekly closing high, good looking chart.
8:18 GME—4% or so of XRT, $18B mkt cap, losing $2 this year Street est., SPAC w/ Epic, Ryan Cohen, Chewy II, 11 mil shs short/69.7 mil out, 15% or so
10:22 Bakes’ Takes—Stimulus likely largely priced in, discussed for months. Sell the rumor? Amazed at GME, another lid broken, even with short interest way down
10:48 Please share this with your RH or RR friends, send your other stocks/ideas and I will offer strategy for them as well. Please stay tuned.

22:39 Bakes' Takes Podcast 9/2/20 - My 3 minutes on Bond Prices Going Down!
22:41 two things must be remembered. One is that well-regulated nuclear power is safe. With the terrible Soviet-era exception of Chernobyl, nuclear disasters come without large death tolls. It was the tsunami, not radiation, that claimed nearly all those lives in Fukushima. The other is that the climate is in crisis, and nuclear plants can supply some of the vast amounts of emissions-free electricity the world needs if it is to cope. Solar and wind power are now much cheaper, but they are intermittent. Providing a reliable grid is a lot easier if some of its generating capacity can be assumed to be available all the time. Nuclear provides such capacity with no ongoing emissions, and it is doing so safely and at scale around the world.
24:17 Peter Baum’s company in New York, Baum-Essex, uses factories in China and Southeast Asia to make umbrellas for Costco, cotton bags for Walmart and ceramics for Bed Bath & Beyond. Six months ago, he was paying about $2,500 to ship a 40-foot container to California.
“We just paid $6,000 to $7,000,” he said. “This is the highest freight rate that I have seen in 45 years in the business.”
In early September, he waited 90 days to secure space on a ship for a container of wicker chairs and tables.
